Atlas

In this early work in the mason jar series I largely eliminated color and worked at establishing the picture space and forms using only the tonal qualities of the many perceived surfaces. Surfaces, reflections, opacity and transparency create a powerful illusion of light and space. I painted this in my upper gallery in Margaretville with light reflecting off the winter snow outside the unseen window.
