Eclipse

I enjoy the starkness of this painting. I tried to create a really narrow field of focus as it appeared in my preparatory photographs and this, I found, enhanced the dramatic swirls of color that appear on the left hand side of this composition. The violets in the central mason jar are the perceived colors of the red barn at the end of my garden, tinted by the winter light and the gentle blueness of the glass.
